Private Luxury Sunset Cruise in Mactan, Cebu

It is a great feeling when you can charter your own boat for exploring a beautiful sunset, the best part of the experience is, it is always worth it. We decided to go for an evening sunset cruise with Island Banca Cruises a local company providing boat charters. This experience was extremely relaxing as we watched the sun set in the bright orange hue of the sky and the beautiful stars and city lights taking over.

It was easy to reach out to Island Banca Cruises on phone and the whatsapp number provided on their website - http://www.islandsbanca.com. They promptly helped with a free quote and all information with regards to the tours available with them.

The area where we cruised for the Sunset is called as the Magellan Bay, the view of the Pacific Ocean and the beautiful sunset still brings an awe.

The cost of the boat rental was PHP 5000 for the trip.
The timings for the sunset cruise are 4.30 PM to 7 PM,

Though we were just 8 adults, they usually allow up to 15 adults on the boat in the same price and one chilled soft drink per person is included in the price. You are free to carry your own snacks on the boat.

So once you have a confirmed the reservation, the dock is located at Punta Engano, Mactan, if you are coming from Movenpick side you will see a signage of Banca few metres ahead and 2 lanes on your left, you have to take the second lane and vice versa if you come from the Shangrila side.

You meet the team of Banca who will then escort you to a floating carrier to the boat, the boat is docked some distance into the water. This was a new experience for us as usually you have to either soak your feet in the water or go on a small boat to the main boat. This was cool.

The boat they had reserved for us called as Banca, was clean and spacious, there was one captain and two helpers on the boat, they were extremely polite and friendly.

The view of the sunset was mesmerising, after we watched the sunset we played some great songs on the Boat’s audio system. It’s an old audio system with an auxillary cable, of the original headphone jack so if you are an iPhone user make sure you carry the connector.

This journey should never end!
We had a great time in the middle of the ocean dancing on our favourite tracks and gazing the stars.

If you have a spare evening in Cebu make sure you go for this experience with your group it is totally worth it.

Where to exchange currency for best rates in Cebu, Philippines?

There are many place you can exchange money in Cebu. We were living near Ayala mall and found this area real convenient for everything including money exchange.  Incase you are arriving at Cebu airport wont recommend exchanging currency at the Cebu Airport. The rates at Cebu airport are very poor as compared to what you will get in the city. The foreign exchange counters are located after luggage section. Just exchange some money enough to reach your hotel. A taxi ride from Airport to a hotel near Ayala mall would cost somewhere around 250-300 PHP only.  Foreign exchange in Cebu City We could figure out two options in Ayala mall, you should check the rates at both these places and see which one is offering a better rate for exchange.      First you should visit the  Core Pacific  outlet on 4th floor of Ayala Mall, it is right next to Gold Gym, then visit the exchange counter at  Rustan's  supermarket which is on the ground floor of Ayala Mall near their ba

Underground River Puerto Princesa Palawan- DIY guide

As they say only in the darkness you can see the stars, well inside the darkness of the subterranean river in Puerto Princesa we saw tons of bats and some kickass rock formations. This was undoubtedly a journey to the centre of the Earth kind of an experience. The cave is super huge, the biggest I have ever seen in my life and the best thing about this cave is you don’t have to walk even a step, one of the worlds longest underground rivers help you sail across in peace.   Underground river entrance What took millions of years to form takes a couple of hours to see. The rock formations in the cave are so real, it seemed like someone has actually taken efforts to make this happen. The entire experience is crafted really well by the tourism authority of Palawan. They have balanced the herds of tourists at a reasonable price and help boost the livelihood for the locals in a very nice manner. Why plan your own tour? The do it yourself (DIY) methodology works perfect for this t

Review of Quest Hotel and Quest Serviced Residences in Cebu

If you are looking forward to stay in the heart of Cebu, Quest is an excellent option both service and budget wise. If you are not fuzzy about small dents in the room, this affordable hotel in Cebu is definitely going to be a good match for your pocket and a memorable trip in Cebu. Quest Hotel and Serviced Residences, Cebu Our initial excitement of booking a good flight deal to the Philippines was short-lived when we looked at the sky rocketing prices of some really great resort hotels like the Shangri-La or Crimson in Mactan as it was the Chinese New Year during those dates and the prices in resorts in Mactan were mostly double than the usual. Chinese New Year Celebration at Quest Hotel Why book Quest Hotel? We decided to book the Quest hotel, which was centrally located and right next to the Ayala mall. The taxi ride from airport to Quest took 40-50 minutes because of the heavy traffic, and costed us around 280 PHP. Initially we could manage to get a
