Review of Quest Hotel and Quest Serviced Residences in Cebu

If you are looking forward to stay in the heart of Cebu, Quest is an excellent option both service and budget wise. If you are not fuzzy about small dents in the room, this affordable hotel in Cebu is definitely going to be a good match for your pocket and a memorable trip in Cebu.

Our initial excitement of booking a good flight deal to the Philippines was short-lived when we looked at the sky rocketing prices of some really great resort hotels like the Shangri-La or Crimson in Mactan as it was the Chinese New Year during those dates and the prices in resorts in Mactan were mostly double than the usual.

Why book Quest Hotel?

We decided to book the Quest hotel, which was centrally located and right next to the Ayala mall. The taxi ride from airport to Quest took 40-50 minutes because of the heavy traffic, and costed us around 280 PHP.

Initially we could manage to get a 3-day reservation only since this hotel was overbooked for the 4th night. We thought of requesting another night during the stay in case there are any last minute cancellations.

Security and Check-in

The security at the entrance was good, they would scan every handbag and they even had a dog to sniff for any unauthorised item you would get there. They strictly do not allow fruits like durian into the hotel.

The check-in process was smooth; they have a decent waiting area in the lobby. They have porters to escort you to the room with your luggage.

Standard Deluxe Room

Standard Deluxe Room

Our Standard deluxe room was a corner room on the 17th Floor, the room offered great views with glass panels on both corners, and however the corner room had lesser space as compared to the other rooms. This was not a problem for us as we enjoyed the view. The bed was comfortable and baby cot was available on request.

Housekeeping

Housekeeping was prompt and they were kind enough to extend courtesy for extra drinking water and any other items we needed in the room.

Facilities

They had two swimming pools on the 7th floor, one for adult and one for children, the pool was nice and well maintained and open from 7 am to 9 pm. They also have a pool bar there. A gym was available on the 6th Floor of the Hotel which was open from 6 am to 9 pm. They also had a business centre where the concierge for tours is also seated.

Restaurant

We did not try any of their restaurants so cannot comment on that aspect.

Quest Serviced Residences

So on our 3rd day we seemed to be out of options as they still did not have any last moment cancellations, however the reception was kind enough to help us know about the serviced apartments which they have on the top floors. We were actually not aware about apartments there otherwise we would have definitely booked them earlier only.

Two Bedroom Serviced Residence

So we booked 2 apartments for the 8 of us, the cost of one apartment was the same price of what we paid for two rooms in the hotel. The apartment had two bedrooms one with king bed, which was really comfortable and a smaller room with twin beds. The twin beds were placed in L shape, and it was not possible to bring them together.

The living room was nice as well with sofa and television, dining table was placed near the entrance, a small kitchen was there with all essential items and there were two bathrooms one common and one in the master bedroom. They have a separate reception and concierge for the residences.

Location and Nearby

The location was a big plus as it was convenient to get everywhere from here. There are taxis waiting at the entrance and hotel staff is kind enough to help you with one, they even note down numbers of these cabs, which is a good security measure. There are no hidden or extra costs to the metered taxis, which the hotel staff helps you, book.

You have a 7 eleven just located opposite the hotel if you need anything, there is even a McDonald’s which was open 24 hours and served some great coffee. Ayala mall too has many options including cheap supermarkets, which you can explore.

Overall Service and Staff

The service was always good and staff extremely polite and smiling. Overall we were extremely happy and pleased with this hotel and would definitely recommend it.

Where to exchange currency for best rates in Cebu, Philippines?

There are many place you can exchange money in Cebu. We were living near Ayala mall and found this area real convenient for everything including money exchange.  Incase you are arriving at Cebu airport wont recommend exchanging currency at the Cebu Airport. The rates at Cebu airport are very poor as compared to what you will get in the city. The foreign exchange counters are located after luggage section. Just exchange some money enough to reach your hotel. A taxi ride from Airport to a hotel near Ayala mall would cost somewhere around 250-300 PHP only.  Foreign exchange in Cebu City We could figure out two options in Ayala mall, you should check the rates at both these places and see which one is offering a better rate for exchange.      First you should visit the  Core Pacific  outlet on 4th floor of Ayala Mall, it is right next to Gold Gym, then visit the exchange counter at  Rustan's  supermarket which is on the ground floor of Ayala Mall near their ba

Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain food in Puerto Princesa, Palawan

Our couple of nights in Puerto Princesa, Palawan helped us explore some really good options for Vegetarian food. The restaurants were kind enough to serve dishes customized to the preferences of each one in our group. We were staying at the Best Western Ivyhall Hotel in Puerto Princesa, which turned out to be a great location for exploring some great Vegetarian, Vegan and Jain food nearby. Believe me you, when we booked our stay for Palawan, we thought it would be very difficult to arrange Jain food for our parents and for that matter even Vegetarian or vegan food. However once we stepped out of the hotel there was no difficulty to find the same. Our first evening we just thought of walking around and looking at the options, right next to our hotel there was a small park called Stellar Grounds at Rizal Avenue which was all lit up and we decided to check the place out. Once we walked in we were really happy listening to the live music and the whole place started to have a gr
